The School District of Grafton is pleased to formally announce registration of two five acre parcels of forested land with the Department of Natural Resources in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.   Formal acceptance into the Wisconsin Community Forest program was approved by the the Leaf Program in the Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on October 7th, 2009.

The goal of registering these forested areas is to provide a multi-use school natural resource and community resource available to community residents.  These forested area swill provide numerous opportunities for students and community members to develop an awareness and appreciation of the natural environment and become informed decision makers regarding the environment.

In the Spring of 2010 the Grafton School District received a $5000 grant from the Wisconsin Environmental Education Board (WEEB) to develop a school forest education plan.  That plan is currently under development by the school forest committee members and will be posted online upon its completion.   Thank you to WEEB!
